Modven Price Override Calculator

A price override is a sale where someone replaced the price your system calculated with a lower one. Enter your revenue, the share of revenue sold on overridden prices, and the average margin gap against system-priced lines. The calculator shows the gross margin given away, the part your own estimate says bought nothing, and a realistic first-year recovery. The two estimates are yours to set, and the right way to replace them is to test them against your invoice history.

Two of these inputs are guesses. Write them down now, then test them against your invoice lines. The difference between the guess and the record is usually where the money is.

How it works

Every number, and where it comes from.

Margin given away

Revenue × share of revenue on overridden lines × average margin gap.

Bought nothing

Margin given away × the share of overrides you believe did not change the outcome.

First-year recovery

The part that bought nothing × the share you expect to capture in year one.

Per salesperson

First-year recovery divided by the number of people who can override, to show what the fix is worth per desk.

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly.

How do I find my override rate?

Export invoice lines with both the system price and the sold price. Lines where the sold price is below the system price are overrides. The share of revenue on those lines is your override rate.

Are all overrides bad?

No. Some win business that would otherwise be lost. The test compares customers who receive overrides with similar customers who do not. If they buy the same and stay the same, the override did not buy anything.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
